In times of drought this can happen quite easily.
Also some lakes have been used close to extinction before people woke up to the fact to save the water.
There are many things that you can do around your own house to save money.
Below are just a few tips.
You need to make sure that the faucets are always turned all the way off.
Even a slight drip can waste water.
This can add up over time and even cost you more on your water bill.
Make sure all your toilets are operating correctly and automatically turning water off when the tank is full enough.
The sound of the water constantly running in the toilet is a dead giveaway that there is a problem.
Parts may need to be replaced on the flushing mechanism to stop this problem.
The old adage of running the dishwashers or washing machines with full loads is still true for saving water.
New improved versions of these appliances use water more effectively too.
Turn off the automatic sprinklers on rainy days.
There is nothing that waste water more than running the sprinklers in the rain! You will be amazed at how many people forget to adjust their timing mechanisms.

Wait for the rain to wash your driveway off instead of you using extra water to do it.
So what if you have pollen on your driveway.
Is this really going to hurt anything? Instead of leaving the water run from the faucet to get it cold, refrigerate some in a pitcher or other container.
This way you have cold water without wasting any.
When brushing your teeth do not leave the water running.
Wet your toothbrush and turn the water off while brushing.
