- 1). Approach the ball straight on.
- 2). Place your nonkicking foot to the side of the ball and about 12 inches behind the ball.
- 3). Take a full backswing with your kicking leg.
- 4). Keep your ankle locked at a 90-degree angle.
- 5). Point your toes severely to the right before making contact with the ball, if you are kicking with your left foot, or to the left if kicking with your right foot.
- 6). Strike the ball on the side closest to your planted foot.
- 7). Follow through, keeping your toes pointed to the right.
