Living Long Depends On Fate
Exercise! yes you knew it was coming didn't you? There's not much point creating a fantastic wonderful life if you don't live long enough to enjoy it? So maintaining or improving your health is paramount.
Not just to go the distance but to ensure you have the quality of life to want to hang in there.
Our bodies were designed to move! Not sit in chair all day, or slouch in front of the TV or hunched over a computer game.
We were designed as a working moving machine, and so it's important to keep that machine, well mobilised, supple and up to spec.
Today's life style creates a lot of demands and stress, so much so, that we often end the day mentally exhausted, collapsing in a heap, yet if we analysed it carefully not much physical activity would have been done during that time.
The problem is this leaves us too tired to do the exercise.
And as catch 22 if we had exercised more, we would have been in a far better place to deal with the stress and mental demands.
So the secret is firstly to plan at least some exercise every day.
You plan this into your ideal day.
The best time of course is first thing in the morning! For a start if you book it in first, there is a lot less chance of distractions getting in the way and it being put off.
A great friend of mine Kim Morrison, professional speaker and author of a number of great books including the 'Like an Apple a Day' has a great idea for those that struggle with the concept of exercise.
She recognises that the most common mooring line holding us back from a small dose of daily exercise is our belief that we don't have time in our busy schedule for it.
Kim's idea is her Fab4 in 5 which you can read about at http://www.
creativewellbeing.
com That is 4 easy to do exercises that you can do in 5 minutes each day, now how hard is that? Have a look at her website below and you can follow the all time easiest instructions to get yourself started.
The other idea is to find something that you love doing that is actually physically challenging, so while you are loving it, you are also getting some exercise along the way.
This might be walking the dog, surfing, or bike riding? Even a regular kick around with a ball with the children adds up over time.
If you can find a peer partner to exercise with, that too will drive you along.
After all you can't let them down, or yourself either! You see every little bit counts and adds up over time in a compounding way.
If every day I ran one mile and you ate a pizza, by the end of the year we would be 365 miles and 365 pizzas apart! That a huge difference.
I love the quote..
..
Living long depends on fate...
living a fulfilled life depends on yourself.
-Lucius Seneca
