Where to Go in Spain in April
April is a good time to come to Spain as the weather is warming up, though hot weather for sunbathing can't be guaranteed. Check out which cities I recommend visiting in April.
Semana Santa is the biggest draw in Seville in April. Seville's version of Easter is the festival at its most luxuriant with magnificent floats throughout the city.

Malaga has a week-long Spanish-language film festival, the Festival de Malaga (Cine Español), towards the end of the month (April 20-27), which is preceded by the oddly-named Malaga de Festival (not to be confused with the Malaga festival in August).
Semana Santa is also big in Malaga.

Madrid in April sees the Festimad festival of 'musical biodiversity'. Nightly festivals for two weeks, featuring hip hop, rock, pop, singer-songwriters and, erm, Ocean Colour Scene.
If you like your music a little more traditional, there is the Folkarria Eco Festi-bal folk festival in Torres de la Alameda, near Madrid.
There is also a half-marathon and fun run on April 7.

April 23 is when the Sant Jordi festival takes place. St George, the same man as the patron saint of England, is also the patron saint of Catalonia (as well as a dozen other countries and regions in the world). It was also the date that Cervantes and Shakespeare died, which is also commemorated.
Other events in April include the La Passio performance of the Passion of Christ in nearby Esparraguera, as well as the Salon del Comic and the Mostra de Cinema Llatinoamericà de Lleida in nearby Lleida.

Murcia, in the south-east corner of Spain, holds its spring festival (or Festival de Primavera) in the first week of April (March 30 - April 7).
