Constipation is one of the major causes of hemorrhoids, so it seems obvious that by treating the constipation, you will then be treating hemorrhoids as well.
Basically it comes down to diet, which is of course a factor in many major illnesses.
Hemorrhoids, although they can be extremely painful in severe cases, and may need surgical removal, are by no means a major threat to your health and can easily be treated at home plus when they are external they are easy to notice before they get too large and painful, The best way to attack them initially is by looking at your diet.
Do you include plenty of fibre? Foods such as cereals containing bran, and wholemeal or seeded bread are a great start to the day, and go a long way in creating normal stools that you can pass easily without straining your anal muscles, which in turn reduces the risk of hemorrhoids.
Other foods which not only contain plenty of fibre, but taste good and keep your cholesterol at a healthy level are fresh fruit and vegetables; dried fruit such as dried figs, raisins, dates are also high in fibre (have you ever noticed how after eating a rich fruit cake your bowel habits suddenly improve?), as are pulses such as beans (as in baked beans), lentils and kidney beans.
Fast foods and processed foods may be convenient and taste good, but they also cause the stool to harden due to their lack of fiber, so try and keep your take aways to a minimum - maybe have them as a treat once a week.
You should also cut out of your diet white bread, ice cream, carbonated drinks, coffee and alcohol - well, alright, you don't have to cut them out completely, but definitely cut right down on them or just have them on a special occasion.
Last but not least, you need to make sure you drink lots of water, and get enough exercise, especially if you work in an office.
Changing your diet really is a very easy way of treating hemorrhoids at home, and it will relieve both the internal and external ones.
And of course, an added bonus is that these sorts of foods will improve your whole wellbeing, and you should soon start seeing a difference in how you feel generally.
