How to Convert a Bitmap File to a PowerPoint File
- 1). One way to add bitmap images to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation file is by using the Insert command. Open Microsoft PowerPoint and from the File menu select "New." Select a layout from the choices (this can be changed later) and click "OK." From the Insert menu select "Picture" and choose the "From File" command. Search your directories for the bitmap files you have stored. Be sure the "File Type" in the Insert window reads "Picture Files." If necessary, change the view to "Details" and look for files with the .bmp extension or those that are marked as a Bitmap Image in the file type column. Highlight the bitmap file you want the add to Microsoft PowerPoint and click Insert. The chosen picture will appear.
- 2). Another way to add a bitmap image to Microsoft PowerPoint is to open the bitmap file in your default image software by double clicking the bitmap file (or right click the file and select "Open") in the directory. With both a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation file and the bitmap file open, right click the picture in the bitmap file and select "Copy." Switch to your Microsoft PowerPoint file, click in a blank slide and from the Edit menu select "Paste" (or right click the blank Microsoft PowerPoint slide and select "Paste" from the shortcut menu).
- 3). You can ensure that any bitmap file you open will always open (by default) in Microsoft PowerPoint by using the "Open With" command. Find a bitmap file in your directory, right click the file and select 'Open With" and then select "Choose Program." Look through the list of file types and highlight Microsoft PowerPoint, then click the box next to the words "Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Kind Of File" and click "OK." The next time you open a bitmap file from a directory it will open as a Microsoft PowerPoint file.
- 4). Multiple pictures and graphics can be added to the same Microsoft PowerPoint file. The pictures can be combined on the same page (slide) or placed on seperate pages. Add text and use the Slideshow animations or the many other Microsoft PowerPoint features to complete your presentation.
