6 Ways to Celebrate the End of the Semester in College
The end of the semester often feels like it is never going to come. Yet when it arrives, you may go from having tons to do to having nothing to do. While this is a welcome change of pace, knowing how to celebrate the end of the semester can be just as important for your mental health as passing your classes.
6 Ways to Celebrate the End of the Semester
1. Enjoy a campus party. You're done with classes.
You need to pack up to go home, maybe return some books to the library ... but that's about it. So let yourself relax and enjoy one of the many end of the semester parties on campus -- responsibly, of course.
2. Treat yourself to a yummy meal at your favorite dive spot. It doesn't have to be fancy to hit the spot. Grab a friend who is also done with classes and head out for a tasty, cheap, relaxed meal. After all, when's the last time you got to go out and eat without worrying about the work you had to do when you got back to campus?
3. Buy some new threads. If you're like most college students, you may have let your wardrobe slip during the last few months. Treat yourself to a little shopping -- even if it's just for new jeans -- now that you have a few extra moments to yourself. (And make sure to take advantage of holiday sales if you're celebrating the end of the fall semester.)
4. Get a quick massage at a by-the-minute place. We've all seen them: those stands in the mall or other popular locations that let you buy a massage by the minute.
At only $1/minute, you can splurge $5 and get all the kinks and stress rubbed out of your back that finals week so kindly put in.
5. Go to a fun event off campus. You may have been so wrapped up in your campus life over the past few weeks that you forgot that life off campus really does exist. Treat yourself to a museum show, a movie, a poetry slam, an art exhibit, or anything else that helps keep things in perspective.
6. Splurge on something to read -- for fun. When was the last time you read something purely for pleasure? Treat yourself to the latest trendy novel, a trashy gossip magazine, or a book on one of your favorite hobbies. You might be surprised at how much you enjoy reading when you don't have to highlight everything and take notes!
