How to Save iPhone Voicemails
- 1). Connect your iPhone to your computer using an auxiliary audio cable between your phone's headphone jack and the line-in jack on your computer.
- 2). Select "line-in" as the input method of obtaining the sound for recording. You'll also want to ensure the input volume is turned up all the way. You can access this information by selecting "Sound" from your computer's control panel.
- 3). Open the visual voice mail section of your iPhone and locate the message(s) you want to record. Leave this information on the screen so it's readily accessible when the recording software is ready.
- 4). Launch the recording software of your choice to create recordings of your voice mail messages. One possible program is Audacity, a free, open-source recording program available for Internet download. Other possibilities include Sound Recorder and CakeWalk. Click the "Record" button within your chosen application.
- 5). Tap the voice mail message you want to record as quickly as possible to begin playing the message on your iPhone. You won't be able to hear the message being played, but you will see the audio signals moving across your computer screen.
- 6). Press the "Stop" button in the recording software when the signals stop moving on your screen. You'll know the recording stopped when there is nothing but a horizontal line in the recording window.
- 7). Play back the recording to make sure the process worked correctly. You may need to re-record the message at a different volume level if you're having difficulty hearing the message. Once the message is recorded to your liking, export it as a WAV file and save it to your computer's hard drive.
