Candida, Candida.

How many of you would usually run screaming at the sound of that word? I would have too a little while ago, but did you know that Candid exists in two forms - the Candida yeast and the Candida fungus?

Mr Right - Candida Yeast
The Candida yeast is an essential part of your defense system as it seeks out and destroys harmful bacteria. Without it we would be much more likely to become sick from a variety of diseases. In a good environment the yeast happily feeds on dead tissue and is kept contained by other friendly bacteria.

The Bad Guy - The Candida Fungus
A large number of people each year experience what happens when the balance of bacteria within our bodies changes. Sometimes this may be caused by simply going on a long course of antibiotics, sometimes it is a more gradual process caused by stress, nutritional deficiencies, poor lifestyle choices and so forth. Pregnancy and the 'change of life' are also huge factors.

When this balance is upset then the Candida yeast grows things that look like roots and develops into the super yeast or Candida fungus. It starts to feed on live tissue and attack its host ie you!

If the fact that the fungus is now multiplying at a rate of knots and devouring everything in its path is not scary enough, it also produces many toxins as it charges through your system. Two of which are Canditoxin and Ethanol. These are responsible for many of the symptoms of your fungal infection.

The fungus affects every part of the body that it settles on, so imagine if it were to reach the inner organs? There are many theories in alternative medicine that link diseases like MS, CFS and Fibromyalgia to a systematic Candida fungus invasion.

How do you know if the Candida Fungus is the problem?
A simple saliva test will give you an indication of whether or not you may be having an issue with the Candida fungus. From there you can get you doctor to do further lab testing which will involve blood and stool samples being sent to the lab.

The Candida fungus is relatively easily to eradicate but this is also where so many people fall down with their treatment. Whether using over-the-counter or natural remedies to cure your Candida, ensure that you persist with it until the fungus is completely gone. If you don't you run the risk of suffering from recurrent infections.
