I found this cute little scripture today as I was reading, and I thought I would share it with you as it contains so much.
OUR TEXT: 1 Peter 3:10-12 10 For " He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; If you are to have a life that you love and see a lot of good days then there are four things that you need to do and they are: 1.
You are not to speak evil out of your mouth.
2.
You are not to lie about anything or anyone.
3.
You are to stop doing sin and only do what is right.
4.
You are to seek peace with men and God Now let's look at them one at a time briefly.
You are not to speak evil out of your mouth.
I used to have a friend that most of what we did was talk about bad things about other people.
We spoke evil out of our mouth when we said that our pastors did not have a clue about what to do with our church and if we were given the pulpit we would soon pull the church into line.
This was speaking evil and at that time my life was full of pride.
You are not to lie about anything or anyone.
The Lord does not like people that lie.
It says in the Book of Revelation that all the liars won't be able to come into the New Jerusalem.
There is one thing that I don't like in a friend of mine and that is a person that lies.
It is really hard to trust a person is telling you the truth when you have caught them out on multiple lies.
Some people have such a low self esteem that they have to make up stories.
I found that working in the taxi can industry.
So many of the drivers were stretching the truth to make themselves look good.
God does not like people lying.
You are to stop doing sin and only do what is right.
Jesus made provision in His blood and the work of the cross for us to stop sinning if we choose to.
All we would have to do is repent properly from every sin we do often and soon they would have no power over us and we would by very holy and mightily used by God.
People don't like to see scriptures that say that we can break free of the hold that sin has on our lives.
People like certain sins and they enjoy them when they do them.
We are told her to stop.
You are to seek peace with men and God If you have people that are active enemies of yours there is nothing wrong about approaching them and saying,:Though you don't like me and you don't ever want to be friends with me, I just want to tell you that I am praying that God will bless your life.
" We are also to seek a deeper and more peaceful relationship with God.
This can be done in prayer and in praise and worship.
This verse says we are seek it.
When you are doing all of the above you are righteous and God will listen and answer your prayers I once read a book by an Indian Apostle that wrote about the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.
He said that a true prophet would be crying about the state of the world all of his life until he is taken to heaven.
He said because the prophets are great friends of God that God answers a very high percentage of prophet's prayers.
This list of four things that we are to do getting followed by God saying that he will hear the prayers of the righteous means that when we are doing those four things we are in fact righteous in his site.
This is not to be confused with the fact that we wear Christ's robe of righteousness.
Doing these for things make us Holy in the sight of the Lord.
