• Lincolnton is situated in Lincoln County in southwestern North Carolina. In the 19th century, Lincolnton was a major textile and transportation hub, but it has more recently become a major tourist destination because of its ample rafting, hiking, and swimming opportunities. As of the 2000 Census, the population was about 10,000.
