My PC Keeps Crashing! How Do I Stop My PC From Crashing?

There are many times that friends come to me wanting some help with their latest computer issue.
One of the most common things friends will ask me is the "My PC Keeps Crashing! How Do I Fix It?" Many things run through my head when I am asked this question.
How old is the computer? What have you been doing on it? Have you been downloading and installing / uninstalling a lot of programs? It's a good idea to start by looking at the Registry.
Rebooting and crashing is commonly caused by having errors in the registry of the PC.
The registry is a database which stores settings and options for all the software on the PC.
Often this is caused by installing/uninstalling software frequently.
This causes the order of the registry to become jumbled and needs to be cleaned up.
The registry gives information on location on the software amongst other things.
Often a crash is a result of the registry directing the Operating System (OS) to a certain location of some software that has been requested by the user, only to find that the OS cannot locate the requested software it is somewhere else.
If the OS cannot find the software that has been requested it will become confused and panics - that's a term for the dreaded "blue screen of death" that we have all experienced at one time or another.
This in turn can result in a loop where the PC constantly reboots.
This is not a good situation to get into.
And it's very frustrating to work out why it is constantly rebooting.
You could fit it yourself, but the registry is a large database that is very confusing.
Unless you really know what you are doing I do not recommend this as a solution.
In many cases you could be doing more harm than good.
It is important to keep the Registry in good shape to ensure that things run smoothly.
To do this it is a good idea to invest in a top quality registry cleaner.
By regularly cleaning the Registry, you will stop any problems of crash's and reboots from occurring in the future.
If all else fails you could re-install the Operating System, but this takes time and a lot of effort.
Installing the OS, then the files, then you documents and all the other data that you collect.
Even before you do that there is the effort of backing up - and finding a backup solution.
Think of the time wasted.
The downtime while you reinstall Windows.
Maybe even lost productivity - which is money.
Take the time to spend $30 - $40 on a top quality registry cleaner and ensure that your PC is always running optimally.
You will avoid those horrid "blue screen of death" reboots that cause people's hearts to freeze in fear.
