1882, 14 September
Now that the British Expeditionary Force has crushed the revolt against Khedive Tawfiq, Britain is in a position to begin an 'occupation' which effectively lasts until 1956 and the Suez Crisis.

1941, 14 September - World War II: North Africa
Rommel's 21st Panzer Division head towards Sidi Barrani in the belief that there is a fuel dump. With no fuel to be found, and British troops moving back from the town, Rommel decides that General Sir Claude Auchenleck, British Commander-in-Chief Middle East, is on the defensive and also orders his troops to withdraw.

1941, 14 September - World War II: North Africa
The 21st Panzer Division is joined by the 15th Panzer Division to form the Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) which Rommel will command, as well as 90th Light Division and the XXI Italian Corps.

1942, 14 September - World War II: North Africa
Operation 'Agreement' - the raid by British troops on Tobruk, Barce, and Benghazi. Suffering from excessive complications, involving the Long Range Desert Group, the SAS, and others, the plan fell apart and many lives were lost. Operation 'Lightfoot' - Montgomery's plan to attack Rommel's forces at El Alamein is issued to his command. It is suggested that the attack commence during the October full moon.
