Are There Us Special Forces In Syria?

There are reports that there are US SApecia Forces in Syria training civilian groups to conduct guerilla warfare against Syrian government forces. Now the official story will always be that this isnt true but I wouldnt doubt it at all. This is exactly what our Special Forces troops do. This news is according to some leaked information published by wikileaks.

The US denies this without actually denying it so it probably is true. This is definitely not information that they want the world to know about.

Most Americans dont realize the actual depth to which Special Operations troops are used overseas, but I would venture to say that we will never know the full extent to which these troops have been used.

There is no doubt in my mind that they have gathered intelligence from many of the terrorists which have been captured which has been instrumental in preventing planned attacks to innocent US citizens. I say this because I have noticed that there has been an absence of terrorist attacks on the US mainland since the bombing of the twin towers. I believe that the reason for this is that our government has been extra vigilant in protecting our citizens. I believe that the primary reason for this has been superior intelligence gathering techniques and offensive actions taken to prevent attacks before they can be manifested.

The writer of the email that was leaked talks of a Pentagon meeting where officials insinuated that there were Special Operations Forces from the US, UK, France, Jordan, and Turkey are already on the ground conducting reconnaissance and training missions.

Last year, a U.S. Army two-star general said that special operators have been in the Middle East since the Arab Spring started, but their mission was to keep volatile situations from getting worse. Now I want you to look at that statement and note that it doesnt tell you a darn thing. If you ask the specific question of exactly what it is they are doing to keep these situations from getting worse you would probably get another vague answer.

Maj. Gen. Kurt Fuller, deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command has made the following statement, We also keep a close eye on and cant ignore the other unstable regions in the world, and youve seen them in the mix here recently, too -- Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, and if we dont address those now, well have to deal with it later and probably have to commit a larger effort to that.

So I can tell you that just about any place you see things happening on the news weve got Army Special Operations forces there, and theyre doing a variety of different things to hopefully prevent and deter these things from getting worse.

Im not going to tell you exactly where our people are or arent, he said. Ill say that if its important to this nation weve probably got guys there. They may not be there now but theyve been there or theyre going.

Lt. Col. Gregory told Military.com that he could not respond to Fuller's remarks because he does not have the full context surrounding them. He also said that DoD does not provide information on Special Operations deployments.

Army Gen. Martin Dempsey has said the Pentagon has begun early work drawing up options for a military campaign against Syria, but insisted that force should be the last option for ending the bloodshed and that the U.S. must not act alone.

"We can do anything," Dempsey said. "It's not about can we do it, Its the question of should we do it,' and what are the opportunity costs elsewhere." Military Ring Express
