How Blogs Can Be Used to Build Backlinks

101 9
The most tiresome task of driving traffic to a website is building backlinks. The task is tough, boring and takes up a lot of your time. You spend many hours searching for related websites to link to, then you have to spend many more hours sending emails to request for backlinks or to submit your website to their link pages. But at the end of all that you have done, you may have achieved only a couple of reciprocal links.

One-way links

One-way links back to your web pages are a lot better than reciprocal links. These links are created from other websites without reciprocating any links back to them. And this is the best way to build links. For reciprocal links, you have to place the links of others on your web pages. But one-way links are built by only submitting your own links on to other websites. The best way to create one-way links is by submitting articles to Articles Directories and ezines or participating in forums. People may read your articles at Articles Directories and they may give you a link back to their websites.

If you run a blog, you can easily build one-way links very fast. You could do this by writing articles that interest others and they will link your articles to their blogs without giving much thought.

How to get your blog seen online

Do you know how you could get others to visit your blog? Easy, just submit your blog posts to popular blogs and feed directories as soon as you have published them. Make sure to include a blog software that will ping your blog posts to other feed websites. There are websites with list of directories where you could add to your blog for free. This way, you could ping them on auto-pilot each time you got your blog updated.

Where to host your blog

You should host your blog on your website. If you have been hosting it outside your website, for instance at blogger.com, you should now transfer it elsewhere. It will be impossible for you to get backlinks, if your blog does not remain on a page of your website. Alternatively, you could use WordPress or other similar blogging platform.

WordPress is one of the most used blogging software today. It comes free with most hosting accounts which you can set up quite easily. Your hosting account will come with a cPanel. Just log-in into it and look for the Fantastico icon, this is where the WordPress software is hosted. All you need to do is to follow some simple instructions to install it, which will only take you a couple of minutes. If your hosting account does not come with it, you could go to WordPress.org to download and install it by yourself.

Once you have got your WordPress installed, you can set your blog on the main directory where it will be at yourdomain.com. Alternatively, you could set your blog on the subdirectory where it will be at yourdomain.com/blog. But if you want your blog to be more prominent online, it is much better to set it up on the main directory.
