U.S. Insurance Coverage

• There are a few U.S. insurance companies that cover collision and comprehensive damage to your vehicle while in Mexico, but they do not offer Mexican liability insurance.
  
  

Liability Coverage

• Only licensed Mexican insurance companies can provide liability coverage that is recognized legally by the Mexican government. Any insurance being offered in Mexico comes from reliable and sound insurance companies, as insurance policies are highly regulated.
  
  

Purchasing Insurance

• Mexican liability insurance can be purchased in Mexico at any of the insurance agencies along the highway, or from an American insurance broker before you cross into Mexico. These are special tourist liability policies spanning few days up to six months. Prices start at around $30 for a week's coverage to about $150 for a six-month policy.
