Medicare plans in Texas are one of the things Texans turning 65 usually find themselves researching. To be true to the search terms there are three Medicare plans in Texas Part A, Part B, and Part D. There is a Part C also called Medicare Advantage but this is a private insurance plan regulated by Medicare and typically paid for by both the person getting the insurance company and Medicare. Medicare advantage plans are renegotiated every year and therefore not guaranteed renewal. Plan A: Every company that sells Medicare plans in Texas sells this plan. It covers four things: Medicare Part A co-insurance and hospital cost up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up; Medicare part B co-insurance or co-payment; first three pints of blood; Part A hospice care co-insurance or co-payment.
Plan B: Covers everything that A covers plus the Medicare Part A deductible.
Plan C: Covers everything that A and B cover plus skilled nursing facility care co-insurance; Medicare Part B deductible, and foreign travel emergencies (with limitations).
Plan D: is the same as plan C but does not cover the Medicare Part B deductible.
Plan F: Most insurance companies that sell Medicare plans in Texas offer this plan. It also one of the most popular Medicare supplement Texas plans. Plan F provides the most coverage by covering everything plan C does but also adds Medicare Part B excess charges. Excess charges can be up to 15% above what Medicare will pay.
Plan G: When it comes to Medicare plans in Texas this is one most people should at least take a look at. Plan G is the same as F but is does not cover the Medicare Part B deductible. Usually the premium that for Plan G is much less than Plan F so much so that you save even with paying the Medicare Part B deductible yourself.
Plan K: This one is a lot like D without the foreign travel coverage. But this plan only covers 50% of Medicare Part B co-insurance or co-payment; first three pints of blood; Medicare Part A hospice care co-insurance or co-payment; skilled nursing facility care co-insurance; and Medicare Part A deductible. The max you will pay out-of-pocket per year is $4,640 not counting your monthly insurance premiums (2011).
Plan L: This is exactly like Plan K except it covers 75% and your max our-of-pocket per year is $2,320 not counting your monthly insurance premiums (2011).
Plan M: Covers everything D does with the exception that it only covers 50% of the Medicare Part A deductible.
Medicare supplement plan N: Covers everything plan D does except you have to pay up to $20 for some doctor's visits and up to a $50 co-pay for emergency room visits when you are not admitted.

Three Medicare plans
Medicare Plan A: helps pay for inpatient care in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (following a hospital stay), some home health care and hospice care.
