An Easy Way to Draw Robots

    • 1). Create the basic outline of the robot you are drawing with light pencil strokes so that you may easily erase or add detailed features to each section. Use a ruler for any straight lines, as this will help you create a more mechanical and precise appearance.

    • 2). Check the picture of the robot for any bending features, as these will typically be connected with a circular mechanism that gives an arm or other rotating feature the ability to pivot. Draw all of the circular joints of this robot, using light pencil strokes to create these basic guidelines.

    • 3). Create the wires and pistons that allow this particular robot's parts to move in a mechanical and accurate fashion. Use your ruler to draw any straight lines. Otherwise, use light pencil strokes until you are confident in the basic shapes of these defining details.

    • 4). Sketch secondary lines on the surface of the robot's body to create a three-dimensional, mechanic appearance. Lightly draw any remaining detailing features. Remember to draw any rivets that are visible on the robot's exterior.

    • 5). Trace over all intended pencil marks to create a clean and bold look in your robot drawing. Move the pen slowly over all of the necessary pencil marks, ensuring that the lines are smooth and you do not smear any of the ink. Let the ink dry, then completely erase any remaining pencil lines.
