While Everyone Was Complaining About Republican PAC Money the Unions Ran Away With the Show
Perhaps you recall the 2012 elections where Mitt Romney and Barak Obama were battling it out in the last month.
Barack Obama was attempting to defend his dismal record on foreign policy, economic matters, and mismanagement of government.
Mitt Romney was telling Americans; "we don't have to live like this," and "we can't afford four-more years of trillion dollar deficit spending.
" One of the big complaints from the democrats was that super PAC money was coming in from Republicans trying to outspend the Obama Campaign.
Some folks actually believed all this nonsense, and thought that was unfair.
Let's talk.
You see, the Democrats and their public labor unions with huge PAC money donations far outspent the Republican PAC money.
Oh, but you never heard about all that did you? No, and do you know why? It's because the democrats went on every possible talk show, news program, and cable network to over-shout the narrative.
They called the Republicans liars and all sorts of other things.
The reality is that they should have been looking in their own mirrors as they attempted to rally they base in this way.
The Wall Street Journal had a decent article/editorial on November 2, 2012 just a few days in fact before the 2012 Presidential Elections.
The piece was written by Melanie Trottman and Brody Mullins "Union Is Top Spender for Democrats," which noted an interesting factoid.
The top Democrat PACs were unions; 1.
) SEIU - Service-Workers Labor Union 2.
) AFSCME - Public Employees Labor union 3.
) AFT - Teacher's Union Those three unions alone equal a little over $130 million to the Democrats.
So, how can we stop this insanity, especially when it comes to these public unions? They are now controlling the government and thus, we are funding their wishes instead of our own meaning we've lost control of our government now.
All three of these unions were in the top 10 PACs for this election.
Taken together they'd be the largest of all PACs by far.
Interestingly enough of all places, California has a proposition on the ballot which if passed would prohibit withholding money from employees paychecks and having that money fund initiatives, propositions, or candidates which could stop at least some of this insanity of public union lobbying and hijacking of our governments at all levels in California.
If we don't pull these government worker unions into check, we will have to keep spending just to keep the government running with minimal services.
These unions have lobbied for larger pensions, better benefits than most corporate executives, and all sorts of other legacy costs.
Today, many city, county, and state governments spend 40-60% of what they collect in tax revenue on benefits for employees that are already retired.
And to throw out a socialist, left-leaning buzzword and phrase back in their face - do you really believe that is sustainable? Please consider all this and think on it.
