How to Build a Foam Glider
- 1). Download the foam glider template from NASA's website. Print the template and cut the images out.
- 2). Tape the images to the top of the Styrofoam tray and use a box cutter or knife to trace around the edges, cutting the Styrofoam in the shape of the templates. Don't remove the paper templates from the Styrofoam cutouts.
- 3). Follow the line on the template to cut the slots for the glider's wing and tail. Then, remove the paper template from the Styrofoam.
- 4). Use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the glider's body, wings and tail.
- 5). Slide the wings through the slit in the glider's body, making sure the body sits directly in the middle in the wings. Then, slide the tail piece through the slit in the back of the glider body, making sure it's evenly placed as well.
