    • 1). Turn off the engine and pull out the spark plug wire.

    • 2). Cut a piece of line 25 feet long with a sharp pair of scissors. Toro recommends using .095 in./2.4 mm diameter monofilament line.

    • 3). Turn the knob on the string head until the knob line aligns with the string head arrows.

    • 4). Push one end of the link into one of the eyelets and push it through to the opposite eyelet. Push the string through until the middle of the line is also in the middle of the string head.

    • 5). Hold the string head in your hand and rotate its knob to wind the line. If you have a curved-shaft model, turn the knob counterclockwise. If you're using a straight-shaft model, turn the knob clockwise. Leave 8 inches of line on the outside of the string head.
