    • Ambient Weather was founded in 1998 and is based in Chandler, Ariz. The company is an Internet retailer specializing in weather stations and associated instruments such as rain gauges, thermometers and lightning detectors. Ambient supplies equipment made by leading manufacturers, alongside a range of "own brand" weather station products. The company also produces weather station software, allowing users to access and process weather information on personal computers.

    • The WS-1180 is a compact, fully functioning weather station designed for home use. It consists of weather-sensor devices to measure wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure and other weather-related conditions. Data is accessed via a touch screen console and this can be connected to a personal computer running the EasyWeather application for Windows, which is supplied with the device. Connection to the computer is made via a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.

    • The AR-816 is a portable device suitable for mobile users who need access to current wind speed data. This includes recreational sports users, such as para-gliders, and emergency service users such as fire-fighters. Wind speed can be displayed in miles per hour, knots (nautical miles per hour), kilometers per second and meters per second. A bar graph indicates wind speed measured on the Beaufort scale, which is the measure used by seafarers. Current temperatures and wind-chill factors are also displayed by the device, which also features an automatic cut-off to save battery power.

    • The device features wireless transmission so that sensors can be located up to 100 feet from the console. The console itself can be wall mounted or will stand on a desktop. The rain gauge includes a temperature sensor but the temperature reading can be artificially high if the gauge is mounted in direct sunlight. The console can display rainfall for one hour, one day, and one week periods. Both the console and the sensors run on batteries, 2 x AA in the case of the console and 2 x AAA in the case of the sensor.
