    • 1). Sketch a dress first. Begin with the sleeves and extend your lines up to form the shoulders. Draw a recessed section between the shoulders where you will draw the neck. At this point, sketch in the vertical lines for the neck, curving them in slightly to give the neck shape.

    • 2). Draw the body lines of the dress with an indent where the waist will be, then extend the line on each side out toward the edges of your paper to form the flair of the dress. Draw legs extending from beneath the him of the dress. Draw the legs without adding a big distinction between the thighs and below the knee to help enhance the natural form of young girls.

    • 3). Draw arms extending from the sleeves of the dress. Again, keep the arms narrow to help create the natural form of a younger girl as opposed to a woman. Draw small hands at the ends of the arms, then detail the dress. Examples of detail you might add include small circles for buttons or a double line and bow around the waist of the dress.

    • 4). Draw the head and face last. This will be the element in the drawing that will show the drawing as a young girl. Draw circles for the eyes. Making them circles can give the young, innocent appeal typical of girls. Draw an arched line over each eye for eyebrows and four or five vertical lines for eyelashes. Draw a small arched line for the nose and two thin lines for the lips, with upturned edges for a smile.

    • 5). Sketch hair on your little girl. To help enhance the young aspect of your drawing, draw pigtails instead of loose hair. Form the pigtails with two vertical lines running parallel, with a thick horizontal line at the end of the pigtails for a braid. Beneath the braid, draw some loose hair extending in vertical lines to form the ends of the pigtails.
