Front Sight Firearms Training Institute was founded by Dr. Ignatius Piazza in response to a near-disaster he experienced in 1988, when a drive-by shooting left him shaken, but unhurt. It also left him aware of how un-prepared he would have been to take care of himself, his family or his home had the drive-by shooting turned into a home invasion.

After years of study and practice, and winning awards and certificates along the way, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, in 1996, started Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Nevada near Las Vegas. The school delivers on Dr. Piazza's goals.

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute features training for all ages and firearms skill levels. It starts with classes for children from ages 5 to 10, designed to increase awareness of their environment, and how to be safe in it. They learn how to avoid child predators, and overcome their natural reluctance to yell for help. They leave the Institute with an improved understanding of their world, without being paranoid, and that competence makes them happier and more confident in all they do.

Teenagers have more than just physical threats to their safety, and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute training for teens includes age-appropriate discussions and activities and role-playing that gives them the skills to resist peer pressure regarding drugs, alcohol and dangerous actions. They learn to recognize and evade or defend themselves in violent situations. Instruction about the predators on the Internet and in their neighborhood are part of this special training, and it all adds up to getting the skills needed to make it safely into adulthood.

All children receive materials to take home to keep their skills fresh, so that they can continue to be safer, and along the way, more confident as they go through their world.

Front Sight Firearms Training Institute's specialty, however, is firearms training. There are courses ranging from beginner to professional expert in handguns, shotgun, and rifle, among other weapons.

Beginners can learn how to handle a gun correctly from the beginning, not having to unlearn bad habits. They can learn that a gun is a tool, and how to handle that tool, and how not to be a victim of their own fears and uncertainties. The student leaves as no longer a beginner, but someone who is certain of his or her level of skill, and who knows how to continue to improve.

Experienced gun owners learn shooting from various positions, multiple targets, and other skills. There are a variety of courses, some with classroom instruction and some only on the range, fine tuning skills. The courses are offered in the various weapons types.

Professionals and experts get tips that Dr. Ignatius Piazza learned over his years of training, delivered with precision and personal attention to the needs of each student. Students have come to Front Sight Firearms Training Institute from police forces and private security services, and the testimonials are stellar. There are specialty courses in night firearm use, time pressure, moving and shooting.

The goal of safer citizens and families IS being achieved!
