The Tao of Healing
Taoist philosophy comes from the mid 18th century Chinese teachings and is defined by the "universal energy that makes and maintains everything that exists.
" Encarta ® World English DictionaryIn the Tao way of life, we live in the ultimate reality in which all things are located or happening and strive to live in harmony with the universe undivided.
The body's innate capacity to maintain homeostasis is an inherent element of life.
Our DNA has within it absolutely all the information needed to manufacture enzymes to repair itself.
In other words, contained within our physical being is absolutely everything that is necessary to maintain a perfect, healthy balance.
This healing system we came equipped with, operates continuously and is always available.
There is never a time when our body is not on call and striving to maintain itself.
The body's healing system has a diagnostic capability; it can recognize damage, and immediately know what must be done where, when and in what order.
The innate ability of the physical being to right itself is unfailing.
Healing is spontaneous.
It is a natural tendency arising from that Tao and internal nature of DNA.
This incredible healing system can remove damaged structure and replace it with normal structure.
It knows not only how to act to neutralize the effects of serious injury, it also directs the ordinary moment-to-moment corrections that maintain normal structure and function.
So whether you have a fractured bone, a severed limb or a sliver in your finger, your body know exactly what to do, and does it immediately.
So the question arises "If the body is so good at healing, why do we get sick?" Our body is always ready for the task, but its resources may be inadequate for the healing at hand.
Healing takes energy, and a malnourished body, low metabolism rate, an infection, erroneous mind connection, emotions in turmoil, and negative, dooms-day thoughts can all impede healing.
Does healing necessarily mean complete disappearance of disease on the physical level? No, it does not.
A person can become whole and balanced within their emotional or mental being and still have a physical imbalance.
When a physical body part becomes fixed or immovable, such as with paralysis or loss of function in some manner, the body then adapts to that function and is able to become whole within that body.
I have known people who appear whole to me, and their physical impairment isn't even noticeable.
They have, in some way, lived a Taoist philosophy and make up for any impairment.
Therefore, simply put, living the Tao way of health is to live within the sum total of all the parts of complete, balanced health.
Not only must we honor our physical house of being, but in addition, our spiritual attitude, mental, and emotional balance of beliefs.
As we become more aware and alert to this amazing body and it's ability to survive and thrive, let us honor our health.
Striving for balance, growth and expansion affects every aspect of our physical being.
As we live the Tao of health and healing, we combine our physical being, and our non-physical being with the immense Universe of which we are all a part.
"I AM God is within me; I AM within God.
