How to Set Up a Table Tennis Net
- 1). Take all of the materials out of the box in order to see what you are working with. Table tennis sets come with a net, C-clamps and pole posts. Lay the net down across the dividing part of the table. Some tables have cutaways, which are grooves that are cut out in the table to indicate where to position the net. These cutaways are to help you center the net and the net poles.
- 2). Attach the clamps that come in the box to either side of the dividing part of the table. Affix the adjustable part of the clamp below the table.
- 3). Stick the pole posts into the holes on the clamps and tighten the clamps firmly to secure them to the table. Tighten the clamps by turning the knobs clockwise.
- 4). Slide the net slips down each post to set the net upright. The net should be as close as possible to the table without touching it. Check the tension of the net by serving the ball into the net. If the net is tight enough, the ball will bounce back onto the server's side of the net. If the net is not tight enough, there is a knob on the clamp that will allow you to adjust the tension.
