Which Protein Should I Take?

I am asked the question every week "which protein should I take?" My opinions are often controversial, but based on experience (10 years as a certified fitness/nutrition professional), here's my answer: Eat fish, chicken, turkey, eggs, organic beef etc.
The only reason you would need a protein powder is if you are short on time, which I understand is a reality in our culture.
In that case my suggestion is to opt for a plant-based protein powder, NOT soy, without artificial ingredients.
When I became certified in nutrition, I began to read more about how foods are "created" and in turn did some major research on processed food that I was eating.
At the time I was using egg and whey protein powder in my smoothies, which seemed to be the most agreed upon source from the "experts".
Things are different now that I have done a little research on the subject, and have since changed products.
The following are 3 reasons why YOU should reconsider using whey protein as well.
REASON 1 - Whey is made from MILK.
Automatically, a large percentage of the population should avoid it because they are lactose intolerant.
I would be willing to bet the milk used for these products doesn't come from raw, organic, grass fed, hormone/ antibiotic free milk.
These toxic chemicals and the denatured white liquid produced from boiling the milk (pasteurization) is what causes most of the lactose intolerance people experience.
Even worse is the fact that some of the powders you can buy are imported from China, and there has been recent controversy with it.
See this video REASON 2 - Whey protein powder is highly processed.
"In order to further concentrate and purify protein, the powder enters an ion exchange tower and undergoes a chemical purification process.
An ion is an electrically charged element, so the ion exchange method separates proteins based on their charge.
Two major chemicals are used to achieve this: hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide.
Ion exchange costs less, but it also denatures-in other words, causes damage to-some of the amino acids.
" (livestrong.
com) What this paragraph says is that the protein has been processed with the same chemical used in "Liquid Draino".
The word "denatures" is a nice way to say "creates a substance the body doesn't recognize as food".
Do I need to expound any further? REASON 3 - Most whey protein powders are stuffed with additives and artificial sweeteners to make it taste like candy.
Artificial colors and sweeteners are known toxins that cause cancer.
Is one scoop a high amount? No, but one scoop per day plus a diet soda, a few sticks of sugar-free gum and your "grande skinny latte" is.
Aspartame, the most common sweetener acts as an excitotoxin.
They "excite" or stimulate the neural cells to death".
They are linked to serious diseases like Multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease etc.
I personally have experience training older adults with these diseases and if you need help eliminating these toxins from your diet, talk to a person with parkinson's for 5 minutes and you will.
For a full description of all the medical problems these chemicals can cause see the article "Aspartame is, by far, the most dangerous substance on the market that is added to foods.

After all the information I found on this subject, I concluded that there is no product I have seen that I would use.
Then my wife had me try her ARBONNE protein, and I let out a sigh of relief.
It contains cranberry, pea, and rice protein-all plant based.
Cranberry is already well-recognized by consumers for its health benefits, and an informed consumer would most probably opt for a product made with cranberry protein rather than soy or dairy protein.
The only drawback is that this powder contains natural cane sugar, but in small amounts is 100% safe.
