in this short review I'm going to tell you a bit more about jdate, and some things you might want to know before you sign up! Read on.

(thanks, Jdate!) My other sister, ALSO met a great guy on jdate - they've been dating for a few years now, and they recently rented a great apartment together just outside NYC.
So contrary to some of the "reviews" you see out there of the popular dating sites, this one is actually REAL, and thanks to jdate, I can honestly say my OWN immediate family is growing MUCH to my parents infinite gratitude..
:-) Let's talk about some specifics: Jdate is unquestionably the LARGEST online jewish dating site on the web.
Bar none.
If you are serious about meeting someone Jewish, and want to give the online method a try, there really is NO other option if you are genuinely committed to the idea.
(sure you can try some of the secondary services if you've decided your one of those "contrarian" types..

but it's probably NOT going to be the right way to go if you really want to meet someone, and soon) Let's talk about membership - according to recent numbers, there are over 300,000 jdate members in the US, and over 600,000 worldwide.
Quite a crazy number, don't you think? I did...
but at anytime, while logged in to your jdate profile, you can "see" the amount of active people who are ONLINE at the very moment you are...
and while it's never THAT high...
it's not unusual to see 10,000 people "browsing" profiles at any given time.
Geographically? Members are all over, BUT the major cities have the most action at any given time, and in my experience, the most active jdaters are found, as you would expect, in the bigger cities from coast to coast.
How about religious stuff? Do you need to be super religious to enjoy jdate? Of course not! While there are clearly members at ALL ends and in betweens of the religious spectrum, just like you would find in any offline Jewish population, you can find someone who is clearly just like you for sure, in how you practice, and approach your faith or level of belief.
Do they have a FREE Membership option? Absolutely.
You can fill out a full profile, browse members and photos, and do just about EVERYTHING that paying members can do..

with the EXCEPTION of contacting people who interest you, OR...
reading the mail of those who contacted you as well.
So...
while you can CERTAINLY get a great feel for the service by signing up for free, you won't be able to TRULY interact and really benefit unless you pay for a membership.
What about cost? Jdate is actually a bit on the pricier end compared to "ordinary" online dating sites, with base memberships running about 39 dollars a month for a one month commitment, and the price goes down for 3 and 6 month terms accordingly.
(I signed up for 3 months at about 33 a month) Is it worth it? Why not ask MY parents...
