How to Make Ugly Wedding Chairs Cute

    • 1). Add chair covers. Chair covers come in different colors, fabrics and styles. Some chair covers fit only over the back of the chair, while others wrap around the entire chair. Fabrics range from cotton to satin to polyester. Select colors that match those you're using in your wedding. Chair covers can be purchased from wedding supply companies or rented from party stores. Check the measurements of the chairs before ordering to make sure the chair covers will fit.

    • 2). Tie a colored bow around the chair backs with lace, tulle or ribbon. Place these over chair covers or simply tie them to the uncovered chair, depending on your preference.

    • 3). Paint the chairs if you own them or can convince the vendor that a fresh coat of paint will give the chairs new life. Sand away the old paint using an electric sander and 100 grit sandpaper. Add a coat of oil-based primer and then paint with a latex paint. Apply a second coat if necessary. Remember to leave enough time for the chairs to dry before the ceremony.

    • 4). Add cushions to the chairs. If the chairs don't have padding, purchase or rent cushions. Coordinate cushion colors with the wedding colors to tie everything together. If you purchase cushions, personalize them with paint or fabric markers, adding the names of the bride and groom, the location of the wedding and the date. Give the cushions to guests as party favors.
