104 11
    • 1). Subtract the current amount of business from the previous amount of business to find the decrease. For example, if a store sells $2 million of goods one year, after selling $2.35 million the previous year, subtract $2 million from $2.35 million to find that the business declined by $350,000.

    • 2). Divide the decline in business by the prior amount of business to find the rate of decline. In this example, divide 350,000 by 2.35 million to get 0.1489.

    • 3). Multiply the rate of decline by 100 to find the percentage of business decline. In this example, multiply 0.1489 by 100 to get a business decline of 14.89 percent.
