    • 1). Test-fit the pieces to ensure a proper dry fit prior to applying glue. Mark the individual sections on the bottom with a pencil if needed to ensure a quick re-assembly after glue application.

    • 2). Apply a liberal coat of white PVA or slow-setting glue to the sections of the dovetail that will mesh together. Use a glue brush to ensure an even coating.

    • 3). Re-assemble the pieces of the project. Wipe off any excess glue with a damp rag.

    • 4). Stretch long clamps over the front and back faces of the project, keeping the joints together. Set clamp blocks in place to protect the project surface, and to ensure even pressure over the joint.

    • 5). Allow the amount of curing time recommended by the glue manufacturer to prevent premature disconnection or loosening of the joint. Release the clamps.

    • 6). Carefully chisel away any dried glue that may have squeezed out during the curing process.
