  Air guns are pistols, rifles or shotguns that use compressed air or gas as a propulsion source as opposed to burning a propellant. These guns use either plastic or metal ammunition. Air guns are now involved in several Olympic sports and are capable of firing pellets at more than 1,000 feet per second. If you have a child who has received his first air gun, there are many safe games to play for practice.
  
  

Animal Cracker Safari

• Place animal crackers at various places throughout your backyard. Place them in varying degrees of cover, some in the grass, some hiding in bushes and others hiding in tough to view locations. Make sure that the participants do not see you hiding the animals or it will be too easy for them. Once you've placed the animals, let your kids, hunters or other shooting friends into the yard to shoot the crackers. The person who shoots the most crackers wins. Leave the crackers afterwards for the birds. Make sure that the location is safe and that a proper fence will prevent any shots from going out of your backyard.
  
  

Army Sniping

• Place a row of green army figurines on a flat surface 35 yards away from your shooting area. The object is to hit one of the army men with one shot only per person. Since the army men are only about 9 mm tall, it will be extremely difficult and the game may require a lot of practice. Play the game in a round format, with the only players moving on being the ones who knocked down an army man. The last player to hit an army man in a round in which nobody else is successful is the winner.
  
  

Blackjack

• Place a row of various playing cards on a wall that can handle being shot at. If you do not have such a wall, use wires to hang the cards from the ceiling or ground. Use at least 20 cards, making sure to make at least half of them face cards and at least three of them aces. The object of the game is to shoot a blackjack of 21 points or to be the closest one to 21. Each player gets two shots to start and has the option to shoot again (which is like being dealt another card) or stopping and keeping his score. If you wish to preserve your playing cards, scan them in and print out disposable copies using paper.
  
  

T-Shirt Splatter Party

• This game requires enough white T-shirts for every participant, multiple ketchup and mustard packets, half-full soda bottles and cans, and paintballs. Tape an equal amount of these supplies to the T-shirt or, in the case of the bottles and cans, place them near the T-shirt. The object of the game is to make your designated T-shirt as messy as possible by shooting the targets into the T-shirt and splattering their contents all over it. After the firing is complete, take the objects off of the shirt and reveal which one is the messiest. The messiest shirt shooter wins a prize.
