    • 1). Comb out freshly washed hair and divide it into thirds. Use the rat tail comb to maKe three straight vertical parts that run the length of the head. The middle section should contain more hair than either side.

    • 2). Use clips to separate the hair on either side from the hair in the middle. Braid the hair in the middle of the head into a flat French braid. Secure the end with a rubber band.

    • 3). Use the rat tail comb to make a thin, straight part on the left side of the French braid. Braid that small portion of hair into a cornrow that is pointed upward. Secure the cornrow at the scalp with a rubber band so that the ends are loose and pointed upward while the hair beneath the rubber band remains braided. Use a hair clip to hold the hair being cornrowed from the unbraided hair. Continue until all of the hair on that side has been cornrowed. Once all of the hair on the left side of the French braid has been cornrowed, repeat the process with the hair on the right side of the French braid.

    • 4). Take the French braid down. Comb the hair in the middle of the head straight up. You are now ready to show off your cornrow Mohawk.
