There's no doubt about it, the entertainment industry, acting to be more specific, is one of the most competitive industries around.
That means when you apply to audition, if you get accepted, plan on there being a lot of other people competeing for the same role.
Don't let it scare you off, though.
I've compiled 9 of the best tips for nailing an audition that are sure to help you wow the casting directors.

1. Confidence is key, and you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
   When you arrive at your audition, don't walk into the building like you own the place, but don't shy away in the corner, either.
   You need to have a confident and positive aura about you, keep your head up, smile, and beam positive energy to everyone you meet that day.
   
2. This is not the time for mistakes.
   You should prepare yourself for the audition by remembering all of the lines of the role you are preparing for, and it also helps to remember some of the lines of your opposing roles too.
   A great way to remember your lines is to write them.
   There's something magical that thappens when you phyiscally write something.
   It's almost as if it get's ingrained into your brain through your hand.
   Write your lines, recite them, and remember them.
   
3. Arrive early! There's nothing worse than having to wait on somebody.
   Even if you are the best actor or actress in the world, a casting director may deny you a role simply because you upset them by arriving late.
   I'd suggest that you even arrive as early as 30 minutes.
   Who cares if you have to wait? Bring something to keep you busy, download some fun apps to pass time, whatever it takes!
4. Respect everyone.
   Here's how it goes, when you first walk into an audition, you're going to be greeted by a receptionist or somebody else in what appears to be a bottom of the ladder position.
   Treat this person like they are the president, because the way you treat them is going to get back to the audition directors and if you treat them poorly you can bet your bottom dollar that you won't get the role.
   
5. Cut it down.
   Whenever you audition for a role, you need to be respectful of other people's time.
   After all, the directors are going to be there all day interviewing possibly hundreds of potential actors.
   Say your lines to your best ability, make a great impression, and get out of there.
   
6. Your appearance needs to be considered.
   Don't show up at an audition decked out from head to toe, wear something appropriate, but not over the top.
   The director wants to be able to easily figure out what sort of looks you can pull off, and if you're wearing a heap of makeup it's going to be hard for them to imagine you looking like anything else.
   
7. Bring your acting resume with you, and also a picture of yourself in a few different looks.
   
8. Be decisive.
   The director is likely going to give you multiple choice questions, such as choosing between severeal monologues.
   Don't ask them which monologue they prefer, make a decision and choose a monologue on your own.
   They will respect it, and this is a common test at auditions to see if you need too much direction.
   
9. Audition early on if you can choose.
   Casting directors get tired just like everyone else, so if you audition at the end of the line, you might not get the best judgement.
   So choose an earlier time in the day to perform your audition if possible.
