    • The Prowler is a two-seat convertible introduced by Plymouth in 1997. The car was reintroduced in 1999 and manufactured through the 2002 model year. After 2000, the Prowler was sold under the Chrysler nameplate. The Prowler is designed to have the look of an old-style roadster while taking advantage of modern lightweight aluminum components and other advanced materials and construction techniques.

    Engine and Transmission

    • Beginning in 1999, the Prowler was equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 24 valves, a single overhead cam and an aluminum block. The engine produces 253 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 255 foot-pounds of torque at 3,950 rpm.

      The Prowler's transmission is a four-speed transaxle mounted at the rear of the vehicle to help balance the car's weight and makes the rear-wheel drive more efficient. The transmission is automatic, but it is equipped with Plymouth's AutoStick manual shifting system.

    Suspension and Brakes

    • The Prowler's front suspension consists of upper and lower control arms with push-rod shock absorbers. The rear suspension uses a double wishbone configuration with stabilizer bars. All of the suspension components, along with a majority of the Prowler's chassis, are made from aluminum.

      Stopping power is provided by ventilated disc brakes with composite rotors on both the front and rear.

    Dimensions

    • The Prowler's wheelbase is 113 inches, its overall length is 165 inches, its overall width is 76 inches and its overall height is 51 inches. It has a turning radius of 39 feet. Its curb weight is 2,838 pounds.
