How to See My House on the Web
- 1). Go to Google Maps, Bing Maps, or Zillow (see links in the Resource section) and type the full address of the home you want to view, including the city, state and zip code. Wait for the map to load.
- 2). Locate the address of your home on the map. On each site, your address will be signified by a pinpoint with a bubble on top.
- 3). In Google Maps, drag the small orange human-shaped figure on the left and drop it over the pinpoint. This will take you to street view. Use your mouse to rotate the view until you see your house. If the street view takes you to the wrong spot, you may need to use the arrows at the bottom of the screen to move up or down the street. Not every location is available in street view. According to Google, "We try to make sure the information is accurate and kept up to date, but because of factors outside our control (weather, road closures, etc.), it is always possible that our cars may not be operating, or be operating in areas that are not listed."
- 4). In Bing Maps, you can see a bird's eye view of the address by clicking on "Aerial" at the top left corner of the map. If you want to see the street view, click "3-D." Not all browsers support this option. You can use the zoom feature on the left to get as close to the house as possible.
- 5). There is no street view option in Zillow (as of July 2010). However, you can see the aerial view of the house as well as the current "zestimate," which is the estimated value of the house based on Zillow's rating system.
