How to Adjust a Weed Eater
- 1). Get out your Weed Eater instruction manual. Familiarize yourself with the location of the idle-speed screw on the side of the carburetor by noting its position on the diagram of the carburetor in the manual.
- 2). Put on the work gloves and safety glasses. Take the Weed Eater outside to a well-ventilated area that's away from people and anything that's combustible.
- 3). Hold the Weed Eater by the shaft, with the cutting end off the ground. Start the motor, then let it warm up for five minutes.
- 4). Insert the tip of a small flat-head screwdriver into the idle-speed screw on the side of the carburetor, between the cutting end of the Weed Eater and the air filter cover.
- 5). Rotate the screw in very small increments, waiting after each rotation to see if the cutting end stops spinning. Continue to do this until the cutting end stops spinning.
- 6). Remove the screwdriver. Turn the Weed Eater off and put it away. Remove the gloves and safety glasses.
