Focus On The Positive Side Of An Ugly Situation
I woke up to a beautiful sunrise this morning in Gaborone - and I thank God that the weather is much warmer! Since I have that perspective I believe that is why I am in a good mood and feeling inspired to do a lot more.
My focus today is to remind you, dear friend, that your words really do have an impact on your life.
It is actually scientific that our words form our reality because there is an invisible plane where material things originate.
If you think I am talking some sort of New Age babble- think about this: before Steve Jobs built his company and came up with a team of innovators for the Apple products - where did that thought come from? Did it not first exist in his mind? Surely it did.
Then came his words- words of belief in what he envisioned.
He meditated on his vision night and day and then his words backed those thoughts and eventually his actions closed the dream.
Upon observation - myself included- we are all guilty of saying some pretty negative words about ourselves, situations and our abilities.
I guess that happens due to disappointment, heartache, boredom and lack.
Most of the time it is insecurity and a lack of confidence.
"Why should I think it will be any different for me?", you say.
Well, it will not be any different for you if you continue believing and saying so.
Have you noticed that people who complaint the most get the worst out of any given situation? Just when you thought it has poured -it then becomes a hurricane.
People tend to think it means God has something against them but that is not the case actually.
You may be thinking that I am simplifying things - after all, there are situations that we cannot control and overtake us like a hailstorm.
It is true - I am not going to put that aside.
But we can control how we eventually deal with our situations and what we choose to say and omit.
We can choose what we will believe about ourselves even when we feel beat, bust and broke.
We can choose to pray and fill our lives with laughter and joy.
We can choose to seek help in times of need and let go of our pride.
We can choose to learn and adapt in any given situation.
Believe me, I have had days where I felt that I would never make it to see another day but here I am.
I am alive.
And even if I may not always like my current situation I know that reminding myself about who I am and remembering my proudest achievements while kicking in a positive word or two - certainly won't hurt me.
What will hurt me is reminding myself of my failures and weaknesses on a daily basis.
So dear friends, what will you focus on today?
