How to Be Better at Cricket
- 1). Choose one or two elements to focus on, keeping in mind what position you play. For example, if you're a batsman you might need to focus on improving your hand-eye coordination. If you're a bowler, you might need to work on your endurance or explosive strength.
- 2). Do endurance exercises on a regular basis. Stamina is essential to both bowling and fielding, and most players need to work on this. A good way to gain endurance for cricket is to run or jog long distances at a steady pace. Do this two to three times per week for best results.
- 3). Practice speed runs. Start at a marked spot and run as fast as possible to reach the next point. Use short distances of no more than 130 feet or so. Running longer will not improve your explosive running power. To improve your field performance, you need to work on both.
- 4). Watch videos of ongoing games. Analyze good moves and learn why they're the best. Try to find videos of famous players such as Sanath Jayasuriya, Andrew Flintoff or Wasim Akram. Great players of the 1980s and 1990s are just as good as good players nowadays.
