Garden Decoration Ideas
- Garden statuary can be decorative or functional. While a fountain, bird bath and stone bench are considered functional, a scale model gazebo or children playing are decorative. Statuary should be strategically placed, keeping in mind that you don't want the plants around it to "swallow" it as they mature.
- Wrought iron garden decorations are very popular. They weather well, they're airy and can be functional. A small stretch of iron fencing can be used as a trellis for a quick-growing vine, to shade a summer patio, an air-conditioning unit or as a privacy screen.
- You can plant flowers in an old pair of boots, or use rustic old architectural elements, like window frames or banisters to make recycled garden art. Garden stakes are a popular recycled art project--affix just about anything to a wooden or metal stake to use in the garden. Glass plates and teacups can be fused together to look like whimsical flowers "planted" in the garden.
