Importance of a Bottle Brush
- A bottle brush is used to completely remove formula, juice or milk residue from a bottle after a feeding. Some brushes also have an attachment to clean out the bottle nipples. Having a properly cleaned bottle and nipple is important, as babies can become sick from improperly cleaned bottles.
- A bristled brush works best for glass and hard plastic bottles, such as Avent bottles. For Gerber bottles, a softer brush with sponges works best at cleaning the bottle. For angled bottles, such as Dr. Brown's bottles, purchase a brush with a wire handle that can be bent and small bristles to clean around the angled part of the bottle.
- Brushes can have small sponges or bristles attached to the handles to clean bottles. A brush with a wire handle can be bent to clean out an angled bottle. Some brushes have a smaller bristled brush on one end, which can be used to clean out nipples.
- Brushes help keep bottles clean and sanitary. Because bottles can be thoroughly cleaned with the brush, they do not need to be replaced as often, thus saving you money.
- Brushes can be cleaned by putting them in the dishwasher. If the bristles become loose on the brush, or if the brush becomes moldy, replace it with a new brush.
