International Speaker Grant

• People who speak English as a second language are eligible for the TOEFL International Speaker Grant. The grant helps speakers discuss English language testing and teaching at conferences outside of the United States and Canada. Applicants can enter once every five years and must give TOEFL a copy of the presentation and a report on the conference after the event. You must submit an application form, which is available online. You must provide your contact information, description of the conference and an expense budget. At the time of publication, winners receive up to $2,500 to pay for hotel and travel expenses. Three winners receive this grant each year.
  
  

Scientific Grants

• The American Physical Society offers its Travel Grant for Minority Speakers to improve diversity in physics. Applicants must belong to a racial minority group, such as African-Americans, Native Americans or Hispanics. The society's Committee on Minorities in Physics gives up to $500 to universities to help them pay for speakers who travel to their schools to discuss physics. Eminent Speakers

• McGill University in Canada awards up to $5,000 to speakers participating in its Beatty Memorial Lectures Series. The money comes from an endowment fund. The university's lectures committee picks the speakers. The presentation must be open to the public and students. Applicants submit a budget and cover letter to the committee. Northeast SARE Speakers Grant

• The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education's grant offerings include one for speakers. Applicants can receive up to $1,000 if they are giving a speech on sustainable agriculture in the northeast area of the country. This region includes Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Applicants must submit their contact information and speech details to the organization at least six weeks before the event. The award is for speakers who will speak at events targeted to commercial farmers and farming-related organizations.
