How to Decorate Artificial Windows With Painting Stencils
- 1). Plan a pattern or picture you'll create on the artificial window. Experiment with different stencil layouts on a piece of paper roughly the size of your window until you find the perfect design. Paint or trace the outline of your stencils to use as a guide when decorating.
- 2). Clean the surface of your artificial window with a mild solution of dish soap and water to remove any dust and grease. Let dry.
- 3). Tape the painting stencils securely to the window using masking tape for easy removal. Use your rough draft on paper as a guide.
- 4). Paint within the stencil outlines using acrylic paint and an up and down brush stroke. Use paint brushes of an appropriate size based on the stencil. Avoid getting paint under the edges.
- 5). Allow time for the paint to dry and gently remove the stencils.
- 6). Scrape away any excess paint that may have slipped under the edges of the stencils using a small razor blade. Be gentle in this process and go slowly to avoid scraping away paint that should be there.
