Germs contaminate all kinds of surfaces and objects.
Getting rid of them can mean prevention of germs like e.
coli, salmonella, staphylococcus, and flu and cold viruses.
One easy method of doing this is to use a hand-held sanitizer.
There are large wand types and also smaller ones that can travel with you.
We know that objects like the TV remote in a motel or hotel room harbor more microbes than a toilet seat so a sanitizer could eliminate this problem.
Using one is simple.
The sanitizer is held 1/2 to 1 inch above the contaminated surface for approximately 15 seconds on small areas and 10 to 15 minutes for larger areas.
The ultraviolet light inside attacks the bacteria or viruses and kills their DNA.
This action has the effect of preventing the microbes from reproducing or being able to grow.
One ends up with a decontaminated object which gives a real sense of security that it is sanitary to use.
In the workplace, a sanitizer could be used on keyboards, desk areas, telephones, copiers, and other items.
At home there are many places that could use sanitizing.
Toothbrushes for one are the germiest things and have been shown to harbor thousands of microbe colonies.
Bathroom and kitchen counters are places where germs multiply.
Cutting boards that are used for meat especially would benefit from a once over before washing them.
Keeping baby items germ free is next to impossible but a sanitizer will kill them and keep your baby safe from disease.
We will await the outcome of the recent Swine Flu infections, but in the meantime, we need to use all the methods available to help prevent getting ill.
