The Risks and Threats of the Internet

The sphere of Information technology is expanding with each day as new software is created that gets functions implemented with more efficiency. The languages that are used in computing are metamorphosing continually and it can be a challenge even for experienced programmers to keep up with the rapid pace. When a company contracts for IT support, what it receives is expertise to get around through this maze of enormous complexity.

The development of the realm of open source technologies makes it possible for people to participate in the development of languages and platforms in a collaborative effort that is democratic and broadbased. As the databases are refined by programmers all over the world, new methods are being innovated that makes retrieval of data very quick and more efficient than what we are able to achieve now.
The accumulation of data is happening all the time, with each Facebook update and tweet contributing to information on the behaviour of customers.

Companies have to be on the alert about the events in the social media to pick up the strands and the nuances that can be gathered from the interactions of people. Capturing all of this information and detecting patterns within them is the task that Big Data presents to the corporate world. Even the smallest startups have to be in on social media. Blogging is the way of presenting the vision of a company to consumers. Readers need to be drawn into the activities of a company by good descriptions and interesting presentations in blogs and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

The crux of the explosion of data is that the bytes have to be analysed right now. They cannot be sent to some separate analytical team which will send its reports after they get to pore through the data. The analysis needs to happen in real time and decisions have to be made as events are being picked up in the online world.
One of the negatives of this online revolution is that people are being monitored all the time for their behaviour. Some websites have even sold information on customer activities.

While most companies use the data to help their in-house decisions, they tend to share data at times. This can lead to a loss of privacy of the customer. People need to be aware of the way that social media works and have to learn to understand the options that a site provides them to manage their online presence. If consumers are not able to get into the basics of the settings, they have to be very discreet with their behaviour. The internet is teeming with dangers as many groups have taken to it in a bid to fleece the ignorant consumer.

There is no safety in the online world and it can be termed as more risky than the real world as we have no idea about what is lurking inside each site that we visit. And there is no police to provide a constant vigil at all times.
