The Bottom Line

RoboBlitz marks the debut of the Unreal Engine 3 in the Xbox Live Arcade, and the result is undeniably impressive from a graphics and physics standpoint. This game looks really, really good. It is just too bad the gameplay underneath isn't really all that fun.

Pros
  • Great graphics

Cons
  • Boring "forklift simulator" gameplay
  • Costs too much

Description
  • Great graphics
  • Some interesting physics-based puzzles

  • Can be boring and tedius at times
  • Ultimately isn't really worth the 1200 point pricetag

Guide Review - RoboBlitz Review (XBLA)

In RoboBlitz, you play as a robot character that has to solve puzzles in order to fix broken systems on his ship. The reason why your ship is breaking down is because you are being invaded by space pirates, so you'll have to fight off the intruders along the way as well.

The key to RoboBlitz is that it uses a full physics engine, which at times can be very interesting when you have to really use your brain to figure out a puzzle. Unfortunately, a fair bit of the game plays out more like a forklift simulator where you just pick up Box A and take it Room C. When it is at it's best, RoboBlitz can be very fun, but when it is hits a slow section, it isn't so hot. As you play through the game, you pick up upgrades and new weapons that keep the game somewhat interesting, but the gameplay overall just isn't all that compelling.

There are around 20 levels in RoboBlitz, and you can tear through them in a day or two, and then you likely won't play it again.

That just isn't enough gameplay to justify the 1200 point pricetag. It looks nice, and it plays okay, but it won't keep you entertained for long. It is more like a tech demo than a full game, which makes it pretty hard to recommend. Try out the trial version and decide for yourself if it is worth the points.
