Usually, people who are different from the big majority have a hard time blending in the society they live in.
And the problem isn't necessarily them, but the lack of education and the wrong mentality many people have.
That's a problem lots of people with disabilities have.
Even though they can be capable members of a society, they don't always get the same chances as everyone else, because they are judged on what they can't do rather on what they can do.
But what does the word 'disability' refer to exactly? We can say about certain people that they have a disability when they lack some ability.
This disability can be either physical or sometimes even mental, in some cases an emotional disability or a sensory one.
Each and every one of these types of disabilities can bring difficulties in one's life.
The first thing we think about when we hear about disabilities are the physical ones, because those are the most visible.
Either it's about some developmental abnormality or simply the lack of capability of doing certain things which normally would be part of a person's daily routine.
Even a severe type of sleep apnea can be considered an impairment.
Sensory disabilities refer mostly to people who can't see or hear, as other sensory disabilities are not very common, but they obviously refer to sensory organs which have lost their functionality, such as not being able to smell.
Of course, there are also intellectual disabilities which means that the person having them has some kind of mental condition, most of them being an actual mental retardation.
People who suffer from different impairments usually tend to have problems feeling good about themselves.
Each man and woman wants to feel appreciated for what he and she is.
Because of impairments, people might feel that their masculine or feminine side is constrained, not to mention their condition as whole members of society.
People should firstly acknowledge that each and every one of these people have certain things that they do not wish to share with the rest of the world because it makes them feel vulnerable.
Besides, who are they to judge their neighbors just because they suffer from impairments.
We all have equal rights and we should learn to apply them.
Last but not least, people who suffer from disabilities can live normal lives if they know how to deal with their problems or if the case doesn't allow that, if their family is always next to them being supportive and caring.
