    Toiletries

    • Start with your necessities. Comb, toothbrush, floss, mouthwash, deodorant, soap, shampoo, sunscreen, and bug spray are just some items to bring with on your vacation. Visit your local drug store and purchase small travel sized toiletries for your travel pack. Consult the Transportation Security Administration for any safety restrictions regarding liquids you plan to bring, before arriving at the airport.

    Weather

    • Research the average temperatures where you will be vacationing to figure out what type of clothing you should put into your travel pack. If you are heading somewhere that is much cooler, pack a jacket or sweatshirt that can be retrieved quickly.

    Unexpected Emergency Items

    • Put items in your travel pack that you may need for emergencies such as a nausea medication pain reliever, prescription medication, birth control, antacids, band aids, feminine products, soothing lotions for sunburns, eyeglasses or sunglasses, contact lens solution, or eye drops.

    Snacks

    • Pack bottled water and high protein snacks in your travel pack, such as peanuts and granola or energy bars. Include chewing gum to help with traveling ear pressure.

    Entertainment Items

    • Bring a book, a magazine, your iPod music player, or even a deck of cards in your carry-on bag for entertainment when you're traveling. Don't forget to include your cell phone, a charger, and even your camera to catch some of those special vacation moments.

    Special Items

    • Include your jewelry, credit cards, traveler's checks, insurance information, travel tickets and itinerary. When traveling to foreign countries or well-populated areas, take precautions and secure valuable items to protect against theft.
