    • It is the exclusive role of juries to make ultimate credibility determinations regarding which of two witnesses is telling the truth on a matter that is contested during a trial.

    Evidence

    • Jurors ultimately determine how much weight should be afforded particular evidence that has been admitted during the trial.

    Standard of Proof

    • Jurors are charged with determining whether the prosecution has met its burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant has committed the crime for which he has been charged.

    Selecting a Jury

    • Jurors are selected from an available pool of individuals who have been selected from the local community to perform jury duty.

    Impaneling a Jury

    • The prosecution and the defense are allowed to challenge potential jurors for cause due to their inability to be impartial.

    Jury instructions

    • At the conclusion of the trial, the judge will read to the jury the legal elements required for a finding that a defendant is guilty as charged. Jurors are obligated to apply the law to the facts of the case.
