Common Sense For Children

103 24
Using the term common sense when talking about children might seem like a contradiction, heck we see many adults every day that lack lack street smarts.
Nevertheless teaching your children common sense is important and you may be surprised at what age they actually start leaning about it.
During the toddler stages it is easier to explain why we, as parents, do and say some of the things we do.
"Look both ways before crossing the street.
" "Hold our hands in the parking lot.
" or "No throwing the ball in the house.
" These are all common sense things that our children can understand.
Granted, sometimes they don't get it until they violate one of the rules and break your favorite vase in the house.
But if you are consistent they will learn and they will understand why.
Common Sense You Can Teach at a Young Age
  • Why we look before crossing the street
  • Hold hands in parking lots and why
  • Who to call in case there is an emergency, 911
  • What to do if they get separated from daddy
  • The dangers of talking to strangers without a parent around
  • Why it is dangerous to touch the stove
As you teach your children about common sense they will learn to think for themselves and be able to think on their feet while making safer decisions.
We all want our children to grow up with more than book smarts, we want well rounded kids with common sense.
Raising healthy and smart kids needs to start early in life and just like with everything else they need to have role models that they can look up to that practice what they preach.
Parenting by example is one of the best ways to teach your children.
